Before you list
See what your stuff pays you.
Move the numbers around until they look right. Nothing here is hidden or rounded in our favor — it’s the same math that runs at checkout.
You earn
$65.77
$21.92 a day · you keep 87.7% of the rent
Renter pays today
$178.53
$100 of that comes straight back to them
- You keep $65.77
- Lend Local (5% of rent) $3.75
- Card processing (2.9% + 30¢) $5.48
On top of the rent the renter pays $3.53 in Hawaii GET (4.712%), which we send to the state, and a $100 deposit we refund when the item comes home.
Your $100 deposit costs you $2.90 — the deposit goes back to the renter in full, but the card fee for running it doesn’t. Longer rentals spread that cost over more days.
| Length | Renter pays | You earn | Per day | You keep |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| $126.18 | $19.79 | $19.79 | 79.2% | |
| $152.36 | $42.78 | $21.39 | 85.6% | |
| $178.53 | $65.77 | $21.92 | 87.7% | |
| $230.89 | $111.75 | $22.35 | 89.4% | |
| $283.25 | $157.74 | $22.53 | 90.1% | |
| $466.49 | $318.67 | $22.76 | 91.0% |
A single day leaves you $19.79 a day; a full week leaves you $22.53 a day. Same item, same deposit — the flat 30¢ and the deposit’s card fee just get spread further.
The weekly side of it
Set a weekly rate and full weeks bill at that price instead of seven separate days. Renters book longer, you hand the item off less often, and the deposit’s fixed cost stops eating your margin. Leftover days past a full week stay at your daily price, and nobody ever pays more than the plain daily total.
7 days, no weekly rate
$157.74
Renter pays $283.25
7 days at $140 a week
$125.55
Renter pays $246.60 — $36.65 less
You take home $32.19 less than a full-price week, but you’d clear $125.55 instead of the $19.79 a single day pays — for one handoff instead of seven. Whether that trade is worth it is yours to decide, which is why the weekly rate is optional.
Why is it like this? Every number above is spelled out in our terms — what we keep, what Stripe takes, and what goes to the state. We’d rather show you than round it in our favor.
